Satin Stripe Dohars

Dohar Collection — Homemonde

India's Own Sleep Layer.

The dohar is one of the most practical and climate-smart bedding layers ever created for Indian homes. Light enough for summer nights, breathable enough for air-conditioned rooms, and warm enough for mild winters, it sits perfectly between a sheet and a heavy blanket.

Our dohar collection combines layered cotton construction with thoughtful prints, premium satin stripe finishes, and soft fillings that make every bed feel more comfortable, breathable, and visually complete.

What Is a Dohar?

A dohar is a traditional Indian layered cotton blanket designed specifically for year-round comfort in Indian climates.

Its construction combines two outer cotton layers with a soft cotton filling in between, creating a cover that traps gentle warmth while remaining breathable and lightweight.

Unlike heavy quilts or duvets designed for colder climates, a dohar stays comfortable across changing temperatures and works especially well for fan or AC sleep.

The lightweight construction also makes it easy to fold, wash, dry, and use daily without the heaviness associated with winter bedding.

Why a Dohar Belongs in Every Indian Bedroom

Perfect for AC sleep — Dohars provide exactly the right level of warmth for air-conditioned rooms without causing overheating.

Designed for year-round use — Light enough for summer, comfortable enough for mild winters, and versatile enough for changing weather conditions.

Pure breathable cotton — Cotton construction allows airflow and reduces humidity buildup for cooler, more comfortable sleep.

Gentle on skin — Soft cotton layers are suitable for sensitive skin, children, and daily direct contact.

Reversible functionality — Every dohar can be used from either side, extending both styling flexibility and product longevity.

Easy everyday maintenance — Machine washable construction makes dohars practical for regular use without special care routines.

What to Consider When Choosing a Dohar

Climate matters first — Lightweight cotton dohars work best for warmer regions and AC use, while flannel-filled options suit cooler climates more comfortably.

Printed vs. minimal styling — Printed dohars create visual focus, while satin stripe designs keep the bed calm, layered, and understated.

Layering affects room styling — A folded dohar at the foot of the bed adds both texture and colour without making the room feel visually heavy.

Natural cotton improves comfort — Breathable cotton layers regulate temperature far better than synthetic alternatives in humid climates.

Reversible designs increase versatility — Using both sides extends styling flexibility and refreshes the look of the bed between washes.
